The Corcoran Neighborhood Organization will be hosting a community meeting to give people an opportunity to learn more and comment on the proposed L&H Station master plan for the 2225 East Lake Street site.  The meeting will be at 2225 East Lake Street on February 5, from 6 to 8 pm, and will include:

  • 6:00 to 6:30 pm:  Open house to view images and ask questions
  • 6:30 to 8:00 pm:  Formal presentation and Q&A

The first phase of the development — which has evolved based on extensive community consultation— would include a 100,000-square-foot Hennepin County regional service hub, 125 housing units, retail, and parking.  This meeting will provide an opportunity to learn more about the project and make comments as the county advances the master plan to the city for approval.

The Hennepin County Board has approved the purchase of the site at 2225 East Lake Street for construction of a regional human service center.  The project is now going through the city’s approvals process.

The 6.5 acre site currently is home of the Minneapolis School District’s Adult Basic Education program. The agreement with the school district will allow the program to stay onsite for several years until it can be moved to a new location. To facilitate the school district’s search for a new site, the construction at 2225 East Lake will occur in several phases:

Phase 1

Phase 1 will include the construction of two buildings and parking on the northwest corner of the site:

  • 100,000 sq ft / 5 story – Hennepin County regional service hub
  • 8,000 sq ft – ground floor retail along Lake Street
  • 125 residential housing units
  • 434 parking spaces below ground and at-grade

The farmers’ market would be temporarily relocated to another part of the site during construction.

Phases 2 / 3 / 4
Additional construction on the site is expected to begin once the school district has vacated their building on the site. These phases would include construction of a plaza on the northeast portion of the site (which would be used by the farmers’ market on market days) and around 450 additional housing units in several buildings. The site’s master plan is shown below.
