Minneapolis Plans Hiawatha Ave Signal Improvements

One of the primary concerns raised throughout the Minnehaha-Hiawatha Community Works project is the impact LRT signal pre-emption has on area traffic.  The City of Minneapolis has been leading an effort to identify ways to improve the operation of signals on Hiawatha Avenue from 26th to 50th streets.

The city developed a partnership among the Federal Highway Administration, Metro Transit, Mn/DOT, and Hennepin County to look at the issue.  Several changes have been identified and funding secured.  These improvements are planned for completion by the end of 2012.  Check the Minneapolis project web page for more information.
